In 2001, Paramount Home Entertainment released the long awaited and anticipated Godfather films on DVD. This special edition box set release was incredible at the time for the generous amount of bonus materials provided by Zoetrope Studios. However, fans were underwhelmed by the film presentations on the DVDs. So with the help of Robert A. Harris (Spartacus, My Fair Lady), a huge restoraton process was underway for The Godfather and The Godfather Part II. Now seven years later, the fruits of those efforts are ripening. The Blu-ray Disc will offer more than three hours of in-depth bonus materials and that is not just a marketing gimmick. The entire 2001 DVD archive of bonus materials will accompany the all-new 2008 special features! On top of that, purists who were upset that sound editor Walter Murch only included 5.1 mixes will find that this new set rectifies that issue. The Godfather -The Coppola Restoration Blu-ray Collection will present all three films in 1080p HD widescreen with Dolby TrueHD English 5.1 Surround, Dolby Digital: French & Spanish 5.1 Surround, English Subtitles, English SDH subtitles, French Subtitles, Spanish Subtitles, and Portuguese Subtitles. The Godfather and The Godfather Part II will also have Dolby Digital Restored English Mono. The three films will be spread over three BD-50s for optimum picture and sound. The extensive bonus materials will also be on a BD-50. Special Features:
Special Features Listed as HD are presented in high-definition. Look for the 4 disc special edition box set September 23rd, 2008 with SRP TBA. -Edited to clarify the number of discs in the BD set.- Last edited by jspartan : 06-30-2008 at 09:54 PM. |

Looking at the BD coverart, it looks as though this 4-disc set will packaged in the same fashion as The Die Hard Collection.
