Krammer, some of these new BD's are getting bad reviews for picture quality.I wonder why so many lately?.'Gremlins' looks no better than the dvd and 'Near Dark' has been called the worst looking BD ever!..so I decided not to get either.Walmart has 'Near Dark' for just $10 too and I still won't get it.

I can confirm that Gremlins is an upgrade from the DVD for sure.

The people who are trashing it are the same people who do not like film grain in their movies. I checked the disc out on a few chapters because of this hype on the net. Its pure nonsense. Color reproduction & fine detail is an improvement. It doesn't pop like 2009 transfers obviously & since the film stock in the 80's wasn't that great it isn't demo material but it is the best version of it we will see for awhile. If I'm not mistaken, it even comes with a TrueHD track & some special features.

As per Near Dark.. well I havn't seen it yet. It is cheap so I don't have high expectations for the transfer.

As per the worst looking BD ever!

Look no further than this title....

Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter

That is still the #1 worst looking title on the format.

Think of the worst looking VHS tape you've seen...

Ok,

That is better.

Hmmm, lack of grain seems to be the problem{not grain} with these new BD's like 'Near Dark'when they remove grain they also remove detail.I may get Gremlins since you say it's better than the dvd.But the review of 'Near Dark' has screen shots and you can see that the image is AWFUL!.Also I wonder if bad transfers get a fast price drop?..as if Walmart knows the transfer stinks and sells it for $10 LOL!.

No worries, Gremlins has plenty of grain on the BD which is intentional.

People are complaining it does not look good because of the grain it has.

I still have to check out Near Dark..

On a side note for ya.

NEVER go by screen shots when making a judgement call on a BD. Its the most deceiving thing to do. Taking 1 frame out of 10,000's & basing a comment on the overall look is absurd.

A tad late but got Up and Modern Warfare 2 for my XBox 360 last week.

Bought Up at Best Buy and did the package deal with the Blu-ray Disc and the Dug talking plush toy. Got the last of the plush toys and was walking around with it in the store. A lot of people were watching me and some asked where I found it. After 15minutes of nervousness, I just checked out and got out of there.

Modern Warfare 2 has some breathtaking visuals including everything seen in the trailers (there are only two "cut scenes" and these are the opening and closing credits). However, you wlll miss a lot of these moments because you partipate in them so your focus is not on watching.
