Although currently available in Japan on Blu-ray Disc, Warner Home Video Japan decided to just transfer the previous masters used for the two-disc special editions. However, Warner Home Entertainment decided that the US and Canadian BDs should truly present the films in their best possible clarity.
So each film has been restored further for Blu-ray Disc to ensure the truest 1080p picture.
Now Gigi and An American In Paris are making their US Blu-ray Disc debuts on March 31st, 2009.
An American In Paris has been restored using the Ultra Resolution process and is presented in 1080p 1.37 aspect with Dolby Digital English Mono sound.
