Last night I watched the Blu-Ray version of Doomsday. I had not heard of this film before the Blu-Ray announcement and it sounded kind of interesting. I wasn't too sure after seeing the first few minutes but I am sure glad I kept watching.

"Doomsday" is an amazing amalgamation of various horror-pop-culture movies from the past, all combined to create a thrilling - and exceedingly violent/gory - movie that has a very unique signature nonetheless.

It is a perfect mix of "Day of the Dead" meets "Big Trouble In Little China" - sans the humor -, "28 Days Later" and most of all "The Road Warrior." In fact after the film was over I thought, this could definitely have been a "Mad Max" movie.

So folks, if you totally dig Max and the Road Warrior scenario, make sure you pick up "Doomsday!" This film has attitude - although it does have a few flaws also, but fortunately the action glosses over it very nicely.

It's from the director of Dog Soldiers and The Descent, which I loved, so I'm pretty sure I'll enjoy it as well. I'll pick it up when it is released. I'm guessing you got an advance copy, Guido???

So, what did everyone think of this film? I'm just curious if I got swept away by nostalgia or if others also got a good kick out of this movie.

I saw it in the theater and enjoyed it. Just got around to picking up the Blu-ray this past weekend and watched it twice. I liked it even more the second and third viewing. Love the placement of the 80's songs too. Plus the Blu-ray looks and sounds amazing.
