Did anybody buy it yet? I am thinking about getting the single DVD edition. From what I know, the second disc only has the same exact movie but just with the different ending. And from what I've heard, the alternate ending isn't that good.
Any thoughts?
By the way, the DVD only cost 13,99 at Circuit City. Not bad.

It's a horrible movie, so make sure you don't spend too much money on it.

I thought it was fine for what it was. Worth seeing but not worth buying. Rental material for sure.
Planning on watching tomorrow on Blu-ray.

I actually saw it when it came out and LOVED IT. I bought it yesterday at Circuit City. Sorry that you didn't like it or missed it at the theater.
About the alternate ending... any info?

elpirao, I'm with you. I liked the film alot. It wasn't a GRRREEEAAT movie.
But, I liked it enough to buy it and watch again.
Yes, there were some flaws, but, not enough to ruin the movie.
When i say that, I mean, that the lions in the beginning
could have been better. The CGI, in my opinion, wasn't that great on em.
But, for other things, I thought it was just fine. Liked the "darkseekers",
and all the other stuff. The story was good, Could there have been more
to it? Of course. There could be more to every story. But, by the end,
I was satisfied with what I sat through.
As far as the "controversial" ending on the unrated 2nd disc,
the ending goes a completely different way. Kinda made more
sense then the one on the theatrical feature. I skipped to see what all the "controversy" was with the ending. I didn't get to watch the whole "unrated" feature. but I will. Supposedly there are scenes added.
Hopefully, those scenes add a little more to the story.

Thanks, Blammo.
Yes, just let us know what you think when you watch the whole thing. I actually watched the alternate ending on youtube (literally seconds before the clip was removed) and I must say that the theatrical ending seems way better to me. The controversial ending was too hollywood style and not as hardcore as the other one. Anyway...

Even though the "controversial" ending made more sense,
I liked the theatrical ending better, as well.
Why the "controversial" ending is "controversial" is a mystery
to me, too. Didn't look controversial. Unless it means there
was alotta arguing in the studio offices about which ending
they were gonna use.
I just gotta watch em both, again.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS
I would not consider the alternate ending controversial at all. I would say that the theatrical ending is much more controversial, due to the fate of Will Smith's character. I mean, killing the main character is much more controversial that letting him go. At least for the type of movie this is. The more I think about it, the more I like the theatrical ending. I mean, it almost seems to me that the alternate/controversial ending was the one that they would have reshot after realizing that the actual theatrical ending wasn't commercial or happy enough.
Yeap, this is one of those few cases where reshoots are actually an improvement. Which could be a good topic for another thread...
When reshoots are actually better: do any titles come to mind?

Might as well throw a spoiler warning up.
He dies in the book. Hence the whole Legend part of the story. If he survives the end then yes, it is more controversial. Also, I believe Smith made a huge stink about changing the ending to what was seen in the theatrical version (although I may be mistaken) so there may be some controversy with that.
Read the book.
