Well, not a dvd, but for Father's day I got a LG dvd recorder so I can burn off episodes of some tv shows etc. It came with a -rw disk, which so far has played in all our recorders. BUT, of course, I bought a 25 pack of +R's and they will only play in one of our players?! Oh well, I'll pick up some -R's this week and we'll see what is what.

Finding it for $5 is good, but there is nothing hard in finding the complete score (http://shopping.netsuite.com/s.nl/c.ACCT67745/it.A/id.433/.f?sc=2&category=2023) (for a reasonable price, too).

Flicker- BB doesn't carry the back catalog titles much anymore - they don't think they sell enough. Movies like Mame or say an old Doris Day or Cary Grant movie -- good luck. They tell me I can buy it online and then pick up at the store. I tell them, I can buy online and have it delivered to me for free without any tax, so why would I waste more gas coming back here?
We picked up another Disney flick: Jump In! It as okay, but the kids loved it. Also, 36 Hours, Nancy Drew/Hardy Boys S2 showed up form the DD sale.

The BD is cheaper than the HD DVD because the HD DVD is a Combo. I doubt the exclusive "In Movie Experience" would be a factor for the price difference.

Borders is always a last resort for me since they don't carry most new titles, they have downsized the dvd department to almost nothing.Their prices are too high so they were not selling so they just decided to shrink the dvd section.

Borders' foreign film section is one of the better ones I've seen and they tend to stock out of print titles and Criterions longer than other retailers. I found the Old Boy tin there some months ago as an example.
Nick August

They don't stock out of print titles..those dvds just never sell because their prices are too high!..they just sit on the shelves forever!.People go to FRYS and get the same dvds for 40% less..example..the 'Universal Karloff Collection' 29.95 at Borders..same set at Frys 19.95.

Sounds really good, Nick: "Horror and depravity characterize this shocker flick from the director of URBAN LEGEND. A vicious storm forces a vacationing couple to seek shelter in an isolated swamp cabin, but when the owners come home, the young couple find themselves at the mercy of a family of deranged and sadistic rednecks. In the midst of their desperate fight to survive, they sink to depths they never imagined possible."

Yeah, you are right. I did pretty well when I sold a dvd on Amazon - I think it only cost like an extra $1 to ship on top of the allowance. But, once I sold a computer game that my son received as a birthday gift. It was a big box and had (I guess) heavy manuals inside it. I sold it for like $15, but the s/h ate up more than half of that including the amount allowed by Amazon. I guess that's the last thing I sold on there....

Nick August
03-07-2008, 07:10 PM
Yes Jim, 'Manchester Morgue' is good, it was released in 1974 and was the first zombie film after NOTLD, it was overlooked in the U.S when it was released to drive-in's as a 'Don't' movie 'Don't Open The Window' to cash in on that craze. It has some gory scenes though not as many as 'Zombie',the same make-up/effects man who did the 'Zombie' gore effects also did this film..spoiler..a nurse has her breast ripped off.

Hey Nick, yeah I'm thinking about getting Delaney. I've never seen it, but a review I read sounds great! The Skull - I've seen it, but it was years ago when I was a kid. I remember it being very spooky though.
Do you watch Supernatural? I can't wait for those dvds to show up....
:) My Picks for ~ 6/10/08 :)
The Other Boleyn Girl ( @ BB with free Audio Bk CD )
John Adams ( HBO Mini Series )
Have Fun !! :D

Jim,'Joel Delaney' is a good possession film, released a year before 'The Exorcist' it's very creepy. It's been on vhs for years.I never heard of 'Supernatural' are they documentaries?.'The Skull' was released years ago on bad EP mode vhs with other Paramount/Hammer horror titles.I also got the AE 'Haunted Histories' 5 dvd set.Today 'Icons Of Adventure' 4 movie set comes out and I want that too.The set has 4 classic Hammer Pirate/Horror films in it all 'uncut' for the first time..Stranglers Of Bombay,Terror Of The Tongs and 2 others..3 are with Christopher Lee,so this set is a must have.

Supernatural is a show on the CW. Two brothers are demon hunters. They have a lot of great stuff on this show and really push the envelope often with what horror can show on "network" tv, I think. They had one episode where the kids in this neighborhood were all changlings that freaked my wife out so bad she won't have the show on tv when she's in the room. Just a really great show. The last season ended with one brother finally getting killed by a hellhound and he wakes up in hell, chained in a void, screaming in agony! Hmmm, how will they get him back? Lots of possessions, demons fighting each other as well as killing humans left and right, zombies, a weird doctor like Dr. Karnstein that was right out of House by the Cemetary, it's all there. Nothing really original, mind you, but the first time a lot of folks have probably ever really seen some of this great genre stuff. Highly recommended.

I'm beginning to think that, if ya miss out on a specific Best Buy "limited editon"-type dvd, you'll see it again a few months later. Just keep checkin the stores every coupla weeks.
For ex: the exclusive ltd 300 2-disc dvd w/ the spartan helmet I found a week ago.
Well, today I found a lone copy of a ltd 4-disc The Jason Bourne Collection in that silver "safe-deposit box" pkg.
I just ordered two imports (Region 2)
REC.
Mother of Tears
I saw Mother of Tears last weekend and really enjoyed it.
And I really want to see REC. The trailer for the American remake "Quarantine" looks good.

Best Buy is havin a sale on some titles that are
blowin outta alotta the locations around me.
Holes aside, "Mr. Brooks" was a very entertaining
movie. Loved the back-and-forth between Brooks
and his "pal" Mashall. It was the last copy on the shelf.
In fact, the 1st 2 locations i went were completely sold out.
I also picked up the new Indiana Jones score. On sale
for $10 and found the last copy hidin in the wrong place.
Same with that in the 1st 2 locations I went.

Also ordered The Great Train robbery, some Thomas videos with Ringo, and Jekyl & Hyde Together Again (good cheesy fun from the 80's).
Jekyll & Hyde is one of my favorite comedies. I was so happy when it came out on DVD. I thought that would never happen.

thing shook me up for weeks that followed...especially the scene where
the fireman sees one of his own guys, lit up, fallin down an elevator shaft...
that, and where Robert Wagner bought it...I only knew him from It Takes a Thief
and thought his character woulda made it out....yyyeeesh....

Let me start off by sayin....
Whether you liked it or not, The Sopranos, I thought, was one of the best series'
on television. It was genius. Too bad it had to end. Then, I started watchin The Wire,
and it's now the 2nd greatest tv show I've seen. And it hadda end. So, I'm back to watchin JUST movies.
But, in the past coupla years, I've been lucky enough to find The Sopranos
series on dvd for only $25 a piece (4 of em I got new and unopened).
Last Sunday, I found a a new copy of S.6 part 1, for $29. Now, I just gotta find the part 2.
Since, both of those HBO series' have ended, I've found Brotherhood
on Showtime. Its based on a true story somewhere in the parts of
Boston. One brother is an Irish mob boss, the other is runnin for a state office.
And it has the meaness of The Departed. So, I love it.
And...I'm lookin for it on dvd....

Well, gk, what I've seen so far, I can't make a judgement
on it. Everytime i start to watch it, there's always a major
interuption, where I can't get back to it. But, hopefully, I'll
be watchin it (in it's entirety...) before the weeks over.
And, after lookin all over Dallas, I got my hands on the
Spaced set. And I mean, I went to alotta friggin places!!
I swear to me, after I checked my third Circuit City, after
2 Best Buys and a Target, I was beginning to think these
places only ordered one copy a piece.
Watched the 1st episode about a half hour ago...
