caught Diary of the Dead tonight, with George Romero in the building.
anyways, i really enjoyed it. this film is nothing like Cloverfield, but i know it is being perceived like that because of the whole first person perspective. the camera is very steady and has very little of the running with the camera to make you sick. it had some great kills and humor. as with all Romero zombie films he has his message, and this one comes off great. it's about how news is perceived in the media and how we see what they want us to see. how the youtubes and myspace have taken over our lives and become a way of life. how fast information travels now.
he q&a afterwards was great (it was filmed, so i'm sure it will end up on the myspace site). Romero talked about how he hates running zombies and how he views the remakes. his thoughts on the internet and media. and how he comes up with new ways to kill zombies.
if this comes to wide release i definitely recommend seeing it. the only downside to the film was using a cast of nameless actors which kinda took away from the film, but the film itself was the true star and even the acting couldnt ruin it.
