Paramount Home Entertainment is bringing director J.J. Abrams reimagination of Star Trek to DVD this November 17th.
The two disc set's special features have not been fully disclosed, PHE did reveal that the set does include a digital copy like the Blu-ray Disc.
PHE will also push the technical envelope for DVD with "augmented reality" packaging. A special hologram on the artwork can be held up in view of a computer web camera to access exclusive tours of five cabins on Enterprise. Making the experience even more interactive, viewers will also participate in enemy shootouts from the ship's deck. Registration with a specific website will be required for this feature.
A movie-only release will also be avaialable but it is not yet known if this will also feature the "augmented reality" artwork.
Retail is $39.99 US for the two disc set while the single disc will retail for $29.99 US.
