OMG, I am suddenly (and without warning) a Godzilla fan! I bought the Collector's set for the hubby for Christmas and we just finished watching them. We only watched the Japanese versions. I loved them, especially the 1954, non-Raymond Burr version. Then we bought Godzilla: Final Wars, which I also loved, despite it's mixed reviews.

Err, I'm a little over the hill to just get in to Godzilla. Who knew? :p

I rediscovered Godzilla a few years ago when my son totally got into it. They're just fun movies and quite honestly, I am sad that they won't be making any new ones, because I thought the last ones - "Final Wars," "Tokyo S.O.S." and "Godzilla 2000" were pretty good actually.

So, you're not alone...

i'm a huge fan of the gojira :)

my goal is to get all 28 films, there being only 4 that have not been released here in the US on dvd. i wish they would re-release godzilla 2000 and king kong vs. godzilla properly with japanese audio and widescreen and UNEDITED!!!!.

my favorite is Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. all the old and new Mechagodzilla films are pretty fun as well.

We watched Godzilla, Mothra and King Ghidorah: All Out Monster Attack last night.

Holy cow, Godzilla was wild and scary in this move! His eyes were white and glassy, like he was possessed or something. They threw out all the plots of the other films and started as if Godzilla had only attacked once before, in the 50's. The special effects were nicely done.

Another surprise is how much I enjoy the music in some of the films. The original score by Akira Ifukube is my favorite. But, some of the others are great, too.

I like 'Gorgo' the best of these type films..a blu-ray would be nice but I doubt it'll ever happen. The Raymond Burr segments in 'Godzilla' were added in for the U.S cut at the last minute I read.

I like Gorgo, too.

I think almost everyone agrees that the 1998 U.S. version of Godzilla stank.

It was horrible.

I wouldn't say it was horrible, it just wasn't a Godzilla movie.

We watched Godzilla vs. Destroyah (1995) last night. The ending was very sad. I'm a girl, but I don't usually cry at the end of movies. I cried like a baby after GvD! :(

Isn't "Godzilla vs. Destroyah" a very cool movie? I loved all those Mini-Destroyah's crawling around town and then the big moment, the revealing of the real "unified" creature.

The Destroyah is cool. The SpaceGodzilla monster was another very creative monster.

We watched Varan, The Unbelievable the other night. It was kind of stinker.

Last night we watched Rodan in Japanese with subtitles. Another very sad ending!

did you pick up the 2 disc version with Rodan and War of the Gargantuans?

Yes. The 2-disc set also has a special about the guys behind the SFX in the Godzilla movies. The War of the Gargantuas was OK, the print was a bit dark.
