As you can see, we have given our message boards a new face lift. But there's more than just a cool new look. We have switched to a new software that offers a number of cool new features that will make browsing and visiting these forums a lot more fun. Unfortunately, however, this means you will have to re-register your user account in order to be able to post on these message boards.

As another extra we have also added a number of new forums and we now have room for our readers to post reviews of their favorite releases. So, feel free to post write-ups here and share your thoughts with everyone.

We hope you will enjoy these new message boards. If you should encounter any problems, please do not hesitate to contact us and let us know so that we can address these issues right away. As with all new software installations, there may be a few glitches here and there that we may have to iron out along the way.

Also, if you have been a long-time user of our message boards and would like carry over your original registration date, please register your new account and then send me an email or a private message so that I can update your user account accordingly.

Enjoy your stay here on the new and improved "DVD Review & high definition" message board.

Looks great! Thanks, Guido! Do you allow img and /img in []'s to post pics that are on the net? Let's see:

If this worked, you can see my official Lionel Pirates car and also some of our dvd's in the background!

Cool! Guido, you might want to limit the size of pics displayed in the thread to prevent "blowing the margins"....

Cool! Guido, you might want to limit the size of pics displayed in the thread to prevent "blowing the margins"....

But..you might want to increase the file size max up to around 200, instead of the default 97.5k. Just a bit too small.

Do you want me to fix your name also? Right now it says "J. Wolfe (MCharlie" without the closing bracket. I can add it real quick for you if you want to.

here i am (kamikazestyle - keith noordzy). well my new user name. can i have my post count and reg date as well?

also how about making it so we don't have to click q reply to use the quick reply. it should just be open to type.

it wont let me add an avatar also. and i could not use my old username as a referrer. so sad.

It should let you add an avatar. It worked for me without problems. Does anyone else have that problem?

"Quick Reply" without a click is now enabled. The button is still there though because it will automatically quote the post that is being quick-replied to.

Well, I made it over. Glad to see some of the old faces, er, names, have made the jump too.

my post count is wrong. my profile on the other board shows 969. the old board shows that actual post count instead of showing a general post count on all the posts (as this board will do)

kamikazesquid

this is all it shows when i go to Edit Avatar:

Avatars are small graphics that are displayed under your username whenever you post.
X Do not use an avatar
Note: if you have a custom avatar selecting this option will delete it.

i do not get an option to add a file. you might have it set so that only admins and mods have the avatar option.

Hi there! Nice new place, Guido. :)

1/
Please keep my registration date (and message count) from the original board:
629 messages since August, 2001--
just so I am no considered like a newbie (nothing wrong with that, but still)

2/
No avatar option.
There must be some place in the Administrator Control Panel where you set this option (no avatar / avatar / avatar only past a certain number of messages)

Oops. First duplicate message. :p
After editing the first one, I no longer saw it and thought I had made a mistake and not posted it (I did refresh the thread twice to check).
Sorry.

ETA: What's a "reputation"? (The scales next to the Join Date.)

This seems to be what I saw on another board some time ago (they dropped it); it was called "Karma points"; members vote for each other, attributing good and bad points-- something which I do not like; there was no problems on that board (that I was aware of), but you can imagine the silly little wars this may lead to on certain boards (not here, though, I think).

The new board loads very quickly and responds well when navigating throught different threads and posts.

Good Job Guido:D

Could we add a general off topic thread for discussions other than dvd?
Or is there one already and I'm just completely missing it.

Hey Guido,

I love the look and features of the new board. But there is one tiny thing that I think would make it better, for me anyways.

When you click on General Discussion, and it list all the topics, the line between each topic is really really light, I cant even really see it. Makes it hard to tell which "Last Post" "Replies" and "Views" go with which thread.

Dont know if you can make the line a darker color or not, or if you would even want to mess with it.

Other than that, I am really really liking the new board.

Thanks!!

..Guido, has the old forum been closed?..I can't get back to the topics that were posted..do we just have to forget them?..

Guido Henkel
06-26-2007, 02:26 PM
Yes, the old forum is history. For a limited period of time you will still be able to access them at http://216.218.169.43/msgboard/ but before long I will remove them alltogether.

As of today, this here is the official and only forum.

Nick August
06-26-2007, 04:33 PM
..I tried to post this before but it didn't go through so this is a test and ..Guido,the other forum must be closed but can you transfer the last topics somehow?..posters were in the middle of conversations..

Nick,

No, I will not transfer anything over from the other forums. If there's any topic you were involved in and that you would like to continue discssing, please repost the thread here.

Hey Guido!

Thank you for all the work....

As I said at the onset, this board 'looks and feels' great! (But then, I have always liked vBulletin!)

Hi Guido..

Bit of a problem.....

When I respond to an email notification of a reply to a thread I am subscribed to, I get the following error if I click on this URL in the email notification:
http://dvdreview.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51&goto=newpost
A pic of the page I get is attached.

If I go to the forum directly and go to the thread, *this* is the URL.
http://forums.dvdreview.com/showthread.php?t=51

Notice the different URL 'format'.

I do not have this problem with any other vBulletin site I go to.

Thanks for your help

MC

(Oh yeah...one more thing....any chance you could increase allowable file size? 97.7k is pretty small.....thanks!)

J. Wolfe (MCharlie)
06-29-2007, 09:51 AM
Hmmm.....

I didn't attach a thumbnail...and..it didn't come through.....

Interesting....

The bad URL is a problem we are working on. It is a result of us moving the board to a new server after it had already been installed and so far I have not been able to correct this particular issue. :((
